Broc Feeney is looking forward to more on-track battles with Triple Eight teammate Will Brown after the teammates fought on track in anger for the first time this season.

The championship lead has changed hands between the teammates three times in six races, with Brown leaving Melbourne 17 points ahead.

Feeney has three wins to Brown’s two, but a Feeney mistake in Friday’s race ensured Brown was able to put some breathing space between the teammates.

Both drivers arrived on Sunday with a chance to win the Larry Perkins Trophy, with Brown emerging victorious by just eight points after a thrilling finale.

A Feeney attack on eventual Race 6 winner Nick Percat opened the door for Brown to sneak past and clinch second, as well as the Perkins Trophy.

However, the weekend wasn’t without its nervous moments, with the Triple Eight Camaros running line astern down pit straight and through the Turn 3/4/5 complex on Sunday. It came after Brown and Feeney nearly collided on the reconnaissance lap on the way to the starting grid, while the team had to manage Thursday's one-two.

In six races as teammates, Brown and Feeney have a three-all head-to-head record, but Brown has finished no lower than second in all six races.

"Yeah, that's the first time we've probably been door-to-door, nearly rubbing panels sort of thing,” Feeney said of their Race 6 battle.

“That was interesting. I hope we got plenty more of that this year. So, I'm looking forward to racing Will.

“It's so close at the moment, we've been going one-for-one, every race. I'm looking forward to a big long year going head-to-head with him, and it's going to be a lot of fun.”

Triple Eight has so far dominated the results sheets in 2024, winning five of six races, claiming three poles, and scoring three one-two finishes.

It took a defensive Percat masterclass to deny Triple Eight a six-from-six start, but Feeney was full of praise for the Matt Stone Racing veteran, who won his first race since 2020.

“It's been a really solid weekend overall for the team. Three out of the four wins, a couple of one-two finishes and that,” Feeney said.

“For both of us to start sixth and ninth today and, and to come through to a second and third… I felt like I had the opportunity to win that race there, but just didn't execute it perfectly.

“Absolutely pumped for Nick. He's a great guy and he deserves to get a win because he's been driving unreal this year. So, great for him and his team.

"But myself, I've got to reflect on that and figure out how I could have done that better and yeah, learn for the next one.”

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume on April 19-21 in New Zealand, at the ITM Taupō Super400. Fans planning on attending the event are being encouraged to lock in ticketing options.
